BPDBST Receives Second Proclamation from Mayor Gavin Buckley of Annapolis

BPDBST Receives Second Proclamation from Mayor Gavin Buckley of Annapolis

Black People Die By Suicide Too (BPDBST) achieved another significant milestone in its mission to raise awareness about suicide prevention in the Black community. We were honored to receive our second proclamation, this time from Mayor Gavin Buckley of Annapolis, in recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month.

The proclamation was accepted by BPDBST’s co-founders, T-Kea Blackman, MPS, CPRS, RPS, and Jordan Scott, MS, during the City Council meeting in Annapolis on Monday, October 14. Mayor Buckley’s proclamation acknowledges the critical need to address the growing suicide rates among Black individuals and reinforces the importance of culturally relevant mental health resources. His support serves as a powerful endorsement of BPDBST’s work and a call to action for the entire city to engage in the fight against suicide.

A City United for Suicide Prevention

The proclamation from Mayor Gavin Buckley is not just an honor for BPDBST, but a testament to the growing awareness of mental health issues within Annapolis. It symbolizes the city’s commitment to standing together in addressing suicide prevention and supporting those most in need.

We are grateful to Mayor Buckley and the City of Annapolis for standing with us in this important effort. Together, we continue to push for greater awareness, support, and action to prevent suicide in the Black community.

As we move forward, BPDBST remains dedicated to advocating for individuals who feel unseen and unheard, offering peer support, and creating safe spaces where healing and recovery are possible.
