Black People Die By Suicide Too to Host Its Inaugural Fundraiser, Black Mental Health Awards

Hosted by Patrice Washington, Founder of Redefining Wealth

Black People Die By Suicide Too is proud to announce the inaugural Black Mental Health Awards (BMHA), a celebration honoring trailblazers in Black mental health. This event will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:30 PM EDT, at Martin’s West, 6817 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21244. The BMHA will take place during Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, a time when the need for culturally responsive mental health awareness is especially urgent.

Centered around the theme “Honoring Trailblazers, Empowering Futures: Celebrating Excellence in Black Mental Health”. The Black Mental Health Awards will be a one-of-a-kind evening and awards ceremony that will spotlight the urgent issue of suicide in the Black community, raise awareness, and fundraise towards culturally responsive mental health resources. The event will also honor and celebrate Black mental health professionals who have dedicated their lives to supporting, healing, and transforming communities. By recognizing the work of these individuals and organizations, BPDBST aims to inspire future generations and dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health. Honoree announcements are forthcoming.

The BMHA is proud to include a scholarship program, which will support one black student committed to pursuing a career in mental health. This scholarship will create pathways for young Black individual to join the mental health workforce, offering representation, understanding, and culturally grounded support to their communities.

Our event sponsors include The MATTIE Fund, Total Health Care, Onyx Therapy Group, HerbnEden, Arundel Bay Area Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and Flow Therapy.

The evening will be hosted by Patrice Washington, founder of Redefining Wealth, and a nationally recognized speaker and author.
