Not A White Thing: Black People Die By Suicide Too

There are many myths and misperceptions about suicide within the Black community. It is often thought that suicide only happens to white people. The Black People Die By Suicide Too: It’s Not a White Thing webinar challenges these myths and provides education on the increase of suicide within the Black community, how to identify signs that someone may be considering suicide, the importance of language when addressing suicidality, and much more. T-Kea and Jordan also share their stories of recovery and discuss the role of peer support as a tool to combat behavioral health challenges, especially suicide. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer)

QPR stands for “Question, Persuade, Refer.” The goal of this program is to teach individuals to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and effectively intervene. This one-hour, virtual training will cover how to question, persuade, and refer someone who may be suicidal, how to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide, the common causes of suicidal behavior, the warning signs of suicide, and how to get help for someone in a crisis

Suicide Prevention & Safety Planning

Many times, our loved ones want to help those experiencing suicidal thoughts but don’t know how to offer support. On the other hand, you may feel stuck when your suicidal thoughts seem overwhelming. This training is designed to assist those in need and their families in developing a safety plan.
